Park And Activity

This was a very short day, in terms of park time.
We spent almost no time at the parks this day. We had a very late night on New Years Eve. And today was the day for us to switch rooms to the Boardwalk Villas (DVC). Also, the parks were closing relatively early tonight. We also knew we wanted to pick up some groceries (to take advantag of the kitchen in the Villa). There was also laundary to be done (full laundary room in the Villa, which really saves you packing). In anticiation of all this, I went ahead and purchased the 24 hour Internet connection, it seemed like it would be a good day for it.
It was also a very rainy day.
I really did not like the check out at Pop Century. There was a really long line. I insisted we could have done everything from the phone, but Debbie disagreed. We went the to bell station for luggage transfer and the front desk to check out. The CM only spent 2 seconds on the checkout, because we already had our final charge list. And I know we have had the bellman come to the room before when we were changing hotels.
The CM at the Boardwalk check in was a very cute and helpful young lady. She was very friendly, and told us a couple of things we did not know.
The lobby of the Boardwalk had Christmas stuff at checkin. It was gone by the next day. It was pretty, we were lucky to have caught it.
We were very excited about the location of the Boardwalk because you could actually walk to MGM or Epcot. You can also always take the boat to either of these parks, and could even avoid the bus to the Magic Kingdom, if you were willing to walk across Epcot to get the monorail. The only park bus you really need is to go to Animal Kingdom.
Also, the prospect of the entertainment and recreation on the Boardwalk was exciting. We have wanted to stay at the Boardwalk since we signed up for DVC, but have never been able to pull it off before this.
We can see the Tower of Terror from the balcony of our room.
We had a great pizza at Spoodles pizza window. It had fresh olives, great cheese, very good sausage, and pepperoni. We got soda on Disney Dining Plan. We had to pay for the pizza, as the pizza window is not on the plan, but the sit down resteraunt is. The pizza was a fair price. Nick later said this was the best pizza he had ever had, and that covers a lot of pizza.
We finished the Disney Dining Plan from Pop Century by buying pop at lunch and buying those sandwiches and desserts at like 9:30 that night. We have a fridge, after all, and just planned to make use of the sandwiches and desserts later.
As I mentioned, since we were clearly cooling our heals in the room this day, we got internet access. There is still a $10 a day charge. I had to touch base with a CM, over the phone, as the auto connect did not work (I recall this happened last time as well). She told me a different thing to do than the web page said, and we were online shortly.
We played WoW for a while, (Nick especially). I did some e-mail checking, and sent photos back to our friends at home.
We went to MGM for our dinner at the Sci Fi Dine In Theater at 6:40. We got there at 6:30, they made us wait a little long.
Dinner was good. We all 3 had ribs. We also had a salad, onion rings, and a dip. The rings were very good. We had two hot fudge sundaes and Nick had a chocolate tart. We all liked very much what we had. Maybe desert was the best part.
After dinner, the park was closed because it was past 8.
Nonetheless, we walked through the Osborn lights on New York Street. Some part of it was shut down, because of the rain. The lights, honestly, were better on the back lot (when we had seen them years ago). It is still very beautiful and impressive tonight.
After dinner, we went back to the room. We had to wait a while for the boat, but we like the boat. It is much nicer than the bus. On the way over, there had not been a bad wait. On the way back, it was park closing time, of course.
Also, to go from Pop to Boardwalk, went to MGM by bus, then the boat to the Boardwalk.
The room here is smaller than at Old Key West, and so is the laundry room and hot tub. Otherwise, they are very similar. It is a nice, spacious room overall. Its a great room really, and location cant be beat.
At the end of the day, we bought sandwiches, dessert, and drinks at the Boardwalk Bakery, to put in the fridge in our room. We used up the last 3 counter services on old (Pop Century plan). We have until midnight of the day we checked out of Pop, according to the great CM at the Boardwalk. Note that the dining plan is tied to your room. So, if you change accomodations in the middle of the trip, you have two plans to deal with, making things even more complex.
It was a short but relaxing day at the world. Well, I guess we were at the world all day, just not at the parks much. It was still a Disney day. You do loose time when you make a room switch mid week.
