Obrins At WDW 2009 Friday

Disney Hollywood Studios

It took quite a while for us to get to the park today. It was raining all morning. Debbie and I sat on the balcony of that great Old Key West room and watched the rain coming down.

We finally went down to Goods for lunch. I had a turkey sandwich, which was pretty good. Debbie and Nick both had burgers, which they enjoyed. I and Debbie had key lime pie, which was excellent. Nick had chocolate cake, which he liked.

When we finally got to the park, it was just Nick and I. The crowds were much lighter than they had been at the Magic Kingdom. We were there much too late (early after noon) to pull a fast pass on anything good. The standby line for Toy Story Mania was posted at 100 minutes, and we just did not feel it was worth it. It is a great ride, but we had seen it once this trip, and know we will have plenty of other opportunities, after it is no longer the new thing. Everyone does the new thing, even if they don't know what it is.

Nick and I were in the show! Seriously! We were the deck hand (volunteers) in the Harbor Attack show at the beginning of the tram tour. We did not get very wet, as they really gear you up with rain gear and goulashes. And, Debbie was not there to take pictures, because she spent the day back at the hotel! All those years, and the one time we got in the show, no one was there to take pictures.

Nick was delighted to have done this, though. It ws pretty cool.

We do have a picture of what the deck looks like without us on it.

The tram tour is pretty weak without the old back lot houses. It is a really short tour, really. Being in the show was the highlight for us.

I think the AFI walk through display at the end of the tour had some new stuff. There was Star Wars, Narnia, POTC (pirates was Davy Jones's pipe organ and some of the makeup from his crew). it was pretty cool, overall.

We got some other rides and attractions in after the tram tour.

The Walt Disney Story is a great little museum, and a very interesting film. If you are a fan of the man, you can't help but to enjoy it. They have some really interesting items.

We had another great, fast, short ride on Rock N Roller Coaster. This ride is fast and furious and fun. But, we had over an hour wait to get on, because we were late and without a fast pass.

Nick and I had pepperoni pizza and carrot cake/chocolate cake for supper at Catalina Eddies. I also had carrot cake, while he had chocolate cake. It was really quite good.

Why did I buy Nick a Jack Skelington hat (at the Villains store)? Wasnt he tall enough already?

We were back in the room really early. We met debbie at hospitality house, on our way back from the studios. We all sat around for a while and looked at the water down by Goods.

Cooked our frozen pizzas and watched a little TV (Disney XD had Cars, Disney Channel The Incredibles. Saw about half of each) before bed.

It was a fun, but short, Disney day. We sure made use of our beautiful room, and enjoyed this nice resort we are staying at.
