Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney

This is not the best trip report I have ever done, but I simply had to get something finally finished and posted. Enjoy!

Animal Kingdom in the morning, Downtown Disney at night was the plan. We had dinner reservations at Ramblin Road for 7 PM. We never spend a full day at Animal Kingdom, anyway.

It was very cold all day. That might put a damper on tonight's plans.

Tried to leave room early, because it is AK day. Did not actually leave until 10;00.

It was rather cold. I and debbie actually wore light jackets and sweat pants. It stayed cold all day, but the crowds were very light.

Only about a half hour to get to AK.

Managed to get FP for safari and everest at same time, because the machines at safari were goofy, and they were passing them out by hand.

Had some burgers while we were waiting at the place in Africa.

The Safari was very good. If you are first on in your row, it seems like you see more than if you are lady on. That is, there is more stuff on your side. At least, it was true this time. Nick got a lot of pictures on his phone, but I did not get many on my phone. We saw elephants, storks, gazelles, rhinos, cheetahs, giraffes, and Watusi cattle.
We sat at the outdoor burger place and enjoyed some almonds after Safari. This was really an indulgeance this trip.

Everest. This is a great ride. It was more realistic today, because it was so cold.

It is a fun ride, with a neat backstory, and gorgeous scenery. At one point, I could see the swan and dolphin. The backwards ride in the dark is thrilling.

We all 3 got a FP for dinosaur, then Nick and I went and stood in line for Primevel Whirl.

Primevel Whirl was a fun little ride. It is a simple and intentionally cheesy concept, but the combination of the little hills and being whipped around is a lot of fun.

We went on Dinosaur with our FP. What a great ride! Kind of rpuhg, a bit wild, and has some really cool animatronics.

We watched It's Tough To Be A Bug. This is still a very cute show, with cool 3d effects, and nifty in theater effects. I had to laugh when I felt both the maggots and the hornets.

AK was never our favorite park, but I always enjoyed it. Nick said it was actually more pleasant today on the cold then it usually is on the heat. It certainly kept the crowds down.

We left AK about 3:30, for a rest in the room before dinner.
Raglan Road. Colcannon (potato and ham) soup, shepherds pie, crem brulle tart. All very good, creme brule and shepherds pie unique.
There is no way to get from Wilderness Ladge to the Animal Kingdom except to take the bus. One of the best things about the Wilderness Lodge may be that we have been able to avoid the bus for most of the week.

Nick refused to go with us. But, Debbie and I had an excellent time. We both had exactly the same thing--hamand potato soup, the shepherds pie, and Creme Brulle Tart. The soup was especially tasty. The shepherds pie and the crume brulle were boht a little unusual. The pie was just a different shape then what you may be used to, but was the same basic ingredients, and very good quality. The creme brulle, though was in the shape of a pie slice, which is pretty unusual. It was also pretty thick--so a different ratio of creme to carmalization. It was still good, overall, though.

It was so cold that we just decided to head back to the room, rest up, and relax for tomorrow.
