Magic Kingdom And Going Home

We were not up really early. We then planned to pack and get the last of our packages from the front desk. Debbie got a good start on her packing. Then, she ran down to the front desk to grab some donuts and the last of the packages while the boys and I worked on our packing.
It was almost 11 when we got to the park. We always count on our last day as being short, but have a tradition of one last trip to the Magic Kingdom to say goodbye before getting on the plane. Debbie stayed in the room waiting for bell services to pick up our luggage, but did meet us at the park later.
When Debbie arrived, she really felt more like shopping then riding. But, the boys and I wanted to get in several last rides.
Nick did look around when we first got to MK for a shirt, but did not find something that he really wanted.
We went down to get a Fast Pass on Buzz. The People Mover was not running for some reason. The line for Space Mountain was huge. We could not decide what to do, so we called Debbie and hooked up for lunch.
All four of us had lunch at Caseys. It was just hot dog and fries, but the quality was very good. We had a very pleasant time eating outside. Debbie thinks there used to be more trees between Caseys and the castle, but maybe they were moved to improve the view for the shows. Its hard to say for certain. This was a nice little farewell meal.
When lunch was done, it was time for our Fast Pass. We had a nice time. Nick claimed to have trouble with his trigger, but his score was good. Nick and Dalton were together in a cart, while I rode by myself.
The line for Space Mountain was massive, and the FP was out past when we needed to leave the park. So, we took one last ride on the People Mover, which is always fun, and said our goodbyes to Tomorrowland.
We headed down to the Haunted Mansion. This was by far the longest line all week on HM. The park, overall, was packed today. What is funny about this is that our first day in HM this trip was a Sunday, and this was a Sunday. We had light lines most of the week, but I wonder if the following week was crowded. You wouldnt expect that big a difference from two consecutive weeks in March.
It was probably because of the crowd, and trying to keep the line moving, but the CM on HM actually wanted the 3 of us to sit in 1 Doombuggy! Are you kidding? Nick and I might, might be able to sit together, but Dalton would be running along the side. I ended up having to jump backwards in line, and grab a buggy right as it was coming up the ramp. Very rude of me, but what choice did I have?
Anyway, the rest of the ride was perfect. HM remains my absolute favorite attraction on property. We had a lot of good HM experiences this week. This was a nice farewell, despite our minor incident.
We stopped by the Hall Of Presidents on the way out, catching it at a perfect time. Actually, HoP works out well from a planning standpoint, because you know it is every half hour, and you are practically guaranteed to be seated.
Once again, this was an impressive show. It is very interesting to watch the side conversations and fidgeting of the presidents who are not in the spotlight. And Lincoln looks so very natural when he is speaking. This is a very impressive show technically, and an overall uplifting experience.
On the way out, we had ice cream at the place on Main Street. This is something Nick and I always do (often it is just he and I at MK on the last day). Some of us had cones (the real tradition), and others had floats. It was all very tasty. This place was quite a bit busier than it usually is on our last day (or so it seemed).
We all had a twinge of sadness upon leaving the park. This had been such a terrific trip!
There are two things I did notice in the habits of other guests that do detract from the enjoyment of everyone. I already mentioned cell phones, and we all are a little guilty of abusing these great devices (sure makes the trip nicer overall to use YOUR cell phone). The other nasty habit people have is smoking outside of the designated areas. I never much noticed this before, but it seemed a problem this trip. Some people think as long as they are outside, it is OK. It does ruin the atmosphere a bit, if you will.
Tiffany is awfully nice. They were there a bit early, as we had asked for 3:30. He was actually there (at OKW driveup) when we got off the bus from the MK. We had a terrific trip to the airport. I do like them very much. We have always had good experiences with them.
Debbie realized while at the park that there were a couple of items she had forgotten in one of the dressers in our room. She talked to the front desk when we came back from the MK (while the Tiffany driver waited patiently). We could not get back into our room, but they said they would have housekeeping check for anything left in the dressers, and then ship it to us if need be. I can say at this point that these items never did show up. It was no great disaster, but a bit of poor fortune.
We had a meal at Chilis in the airport while waiting for our flight. The food was OK, but not terrific. The service, however, was dismal. Even Dalton commented on it. We explained that after spending a week with Disney, everyone elses service seems very poor for a while.
I have to say that I hate flying. It also seems that we consistently have bad luck with United. But, because of the way we booked our tickets this time, we were on United on the way back. First, they moved us to a different flight, then they delayed the flight they put us on (so it arrived quite a bit later than originally planned). Of course, this all happened after it was too late for us to plan any more park time.
Once again, what a special, special trip we had. It was fun to have someone along who had never been here before. It was also fun to watch Nick interact with the place on a whole different level. I cant wait till we go again!
