Animal Kingdom And Epcot

This turned out to be a short day, but it was still fun.
We started leaving the room at almost 10:00. We were headed to Animal Kingdom.
We headed straight to the Dinosaur ride. We had about a 20 minute wait, although it was already midday. Even though this ride is not as rough as it originally was, it is still pretty bumpy. We thought it was a great ride, imaginative and fun. There is a great deal of attention to detail in the queue. The whole experience is really a kick.
We then headed over to Primeval Whirl. Somehow, the four of us had trouble fitting in one car, but I think the boys were seated in the wrong place (they rushed in first). So, Debbie and I wound up in a separate car. This is also a darned rough ride. But, we all agreed that it was a fun one.
At this point, we walked all the way around the Animal Kingdom, looking for a place to eat. Nick and I pulled a Fast Pass when we walked by Everest. The FP was already for 4:40, which is pretty close to the end of the day at Ak.
We ended up at Resterauntasauras. Wow. That was awful. That right, awful. Not a word I generally use to describe a dining experience at WDW, but this was terrible. It was McDonalds food (literally), but combined with extremely slow service and a heftier price tag. Man, this was bad.
I have been told that this is a character breakfast in the morning, and a completely different setup. But, I have to say I would discourage anyone from going there at lunch. This was bad.
Believe it or not, Nick and Dalton went into the boneyard for a while. Debbie and I just kind of hung around outside. We went on the Maharajah Jungle Trek. It was rather disappointing. It was midday now, which is generally a poor time to view the animals. I did not feel like I got any good pictures, but some were OK when I reviewed them. I did get some nice shots of the tapir and bats, and a couple of passable tiger shots.
At this point, Debbie and Dalton headed back to the room. Nick and I hung around waiting for our FP on Everest. We almost waited in the standby line for Everest, but the posted wait time was 2 hours. So, we went on Its Tough To Be A Bug instead.
We loved that bug show once again. It is always better in the first couple of rows, and we were fortunate to sit down front this time. It is definitely a cool show.
We still had some time to kill before our FP, and we picked up an ice cream, found a place to sit, and watched people go by.
I liked Everest even more the second time. Nick liked it better than he had the first time, but stuck with his feeling that it did not live up to the hype.
At this point, we were headed for a dinner at Le Celier in Canada, where we were to meet Debbie and Dalton. So, we took a bus from the Animal Kingdom to the Yacht Club, then walked into Epcot. We did stupidly spend some time waiting at the Yacht Club dock for a boat. We felt sheepish when we realized how short the walk into Epcot was.
By the way, taking the bus to Yacht Club and the short walk into Epcot turned out to be a good strategy for getting from AK to Epcot.
We did not have much time left before dinner. We did take in the Canada film, which we found to be very good. It is a good old fashioned Circle Vision presentation. I was very glad we did this.
We then met Debbie and Dalton at the restaurant.
I considered this to be the best meal of the trip. Unfortunately, neither Nick nor Dalton enjoyed themselves very much, and Nick holds fast that Alfredos was the best meal (I consider Alfredos a close second).
I had the prime rib and cheese soup, both of which were outstanding. I then had the Creme Brulee. This desert, served with a hint of maple, is so amazing that it is hard to describe.
Nick had a double serving of the cheese soup, and was happy, but not thrilled. Dalton tried the cheese sampler, and was very dissatisfied. Debbie ended up eating most of the cheese. Dalton did have the good sense, however, to have a Creme Brulee (Nick did not). He agreed that it was magnificent. He had never had Creme Brulee before this.
We left Epcot just before 9, and saw some of Illuminations on our way out. We were home quite early. This was an evening EMH at Epcot, but we did not bother, based on our previous bad experience.
Somehow, I left Epcot on this, our last night there, feeling sad that I did not get enough of Epcot on this trip.
