Park And Activity

and up late again.
We were very late getting to Animal Kingdom. It was 11:30 by the time we got to the Tusker House for lunch. We had the chicken, which is always good, but a tiny bit dry. I also had very good carrot cake, while Debbie had good cheesecake, and Nick had a nice chocolate cake.
It was muggy and rained on and off through the day. Animal Kingdom, it seems, is always hot and muggy.
We had Nick try for a Fast Pass on Everest, but it was for after we would be leaving, at like 5:30.
The guy had given Nick the last Fast Pass of the day, so we were able to get a Fast Pass for Kilimanjaro Safari. It was for about 2.5 hours after he got it.
by the end of lunch, almost able to get another Fast Pass.
Nick went down to dinosaur, but was gone for a while. We waited for him, I took a short walk and got some pictures. It was pleasant, not raining at the time. Animal Kingdom is a pretty place, but certainly pretty in a different way from Epcot or Magic Kingdom.
We should have went and waited in line for Everest, and had Nick get a Fast Pass for Dinosaur and meet us in the queue. We did not, and basically just killed time waiting for Fast Pass on the Safari. We never got to ride Everest!
The Safari was very, very good. Maybe because weather was cool, a lot of animals were out, although it was late in the day (after 1:30). There was some weirdness with guys gathering people with different times out of the Fast Pass line. Yes, there was a line for Fast Pass return! We did not wait that long for return, though.
We saw a lot of animals, including wildebeests, crocodiles, giraffes, elephants, lions, chetahs, impala, and watusi cattle. The cattle were right up next to the road. We had a good driver. It was a smooth ride, and she seemed to know some things.
We got right on Dinosaur after the safari, because of how Fast Pass times worked out. This was a great ride. It was bumpier than I remember, and with a little more drama with the flesh eaters. I really enjoyed this this time. There was a light rain on the way over.
Nick and I pulled Fast Pass for Primeval Whirl. Debbie was not interested. Fast Pass was in about an hour.
We went to Its Tough To Be A Bug. There was a very short line, about 15 minutes. It was a great show again. We sat in the back of the theater, because of confusion in seating a full house.
As I said, it was a great show. I love the hornets, and the maggots at the end. I felt everything. Although we were all the way in the back, most of the effects are very good. There were no spiders overhead, though. There was a lot of reaction from the crowd, as though people had not seen it before.
Nick and I had great time on Primevel Whirl. It was very up and down and spinning around. It is rougher than I remember. It had us both yelling. This was a great ride, truly.
Crowds all day surprisingly large. Why so many on January 3? On our other December/January trip, things cleared out right after the first.
We headed back to the Boardwalk by bus. The bus between the Boardwalk and the Animal Kingdom is a long, difficult trip both ways. I sure like our little boat rides better. I would stay at the Boardwalk again, just for the boat and the neat little seaside attractions.
We had dinner at Spoodles. We used the meal plan, so the price is fine. But, after hearing a lot about it, we were kind of disappointed. I had garlic shrimp, which was very good, and vanilla bean crem brulle, which was excellent (some fresh berries with it). But, lemon chicken (main course) was just OK. Nick had rigatoni, which he actually did not care for. He and Debbie both ahd cheesy flat bread as an appetizer, which they loved. I tasted it, but thought the ricotta cheese was pretty strong. Debbie had a steak, which she said was the best of the trip.
Although Mediterranean, we thought it would be a little more Italian. The pizza window really had us with high hopes also. Creme brulle was the best part for me. They did start with a great soft bread and olive oil and garlic to dip it in. That was wonderful. Nick had a make it at the table ice cream sundae, which appeared to be just OK.
Nick and I drove a surrey bike after supper. It was a little difficult, there is one especially rough hill. We only went around once ($20). It was supposed to be $20 for a half hour, but we were not out that long. Nick did most of the work. We did think it was fun overall. It was clear at the time, not rainy. It was pretty place for such a ride.
I finally had my dessert from the other night when we used up our counter service. It was a very tasty napoleon from the Boardwalk Bakery. Nick and Debbie had their sandwiches already, said they liked them.
This was a short but pleasant day at the Aniimal Kingdom, and a nice time at the Boardwalk at night, though dinner was disappointing. Still, it was a good Disney day. We had snacks and tv before bed. We were in bed pretty early.
